There are two
active phishing scams that are related to ACH banking
and online transactions. If you receive any emails from IRS.gov
or someone claiming to be from NACH - do not open the attached files or
follow the links. THIS IS FRAUDULENT.
Some of our
clients have received emails stating "Your Federal Tax Transaction, recently sent
from your bank account was canceled by the Electronic Federal Tax
Payment System." Others have received
similar emails relating to Online Payments, Wire Transfers and ACH
transfers being cancelled.
If in doubt -
please remember that the IRS will never contact you by email - neither
would a managing banking authority. Another identifying
factor to look for is misspellings, missing words or highly obvious
grammatical errors. If the author of the email is not
immediately recognizable - be careful.
